For our community and this cause, we will always weather the storm.
This was our third year participating in CNOY, with our biggest team yet of 18 and we loved every moment of it! Thank you to everyone who showed up, donated, cheered us on and kept walking in the rain storm.
Thank you to the Shuswap Food Action Society for all they do for our community. We will continue to shout it from the roof tops: “kids can’t learn if they’re hungry! “
See you next year 💕

Team SOS & Friends had a fantastic time at the Coldest Night of the Year Walk, and we were all happy that the clouds parted and we missed walking in the downpour earlier yesterday!
Together, we walked in support of Island Crisis Care Society, helping people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness in our community.
According to the Coldest Night of the Year website, Oceanside teams raised an incredible $121,191, surpassing their $100,000 goal for Island Crisis Care Society! The website reports there were 336 walkers, 39 teams, and 57 volunteers.

It was the Coldest Night of the Year walk to raise funds for those facing homelessness, hunger, and hardship. In Langley, I joined my colleagues Misty Van Popta and Jody Toor as our community united in support of this vital cause, partnered with the Salvation Army.
A huge shoutout to all the volunteers and organizers who made this event possible. It takes tremendous effort to coordinate such an event, and witnessing that dedication is truly inspiring.

Thanks to everyone who walked and donated yesterday to raise funds to conquer hunger during the #CNOY event! We hosted a full crowd who participated in 2km and 5km walks and then joined friends and family for a warm bowl of soup. Next stop was the Cheltenham Fire Hall where a chili cookoff, silent auction and polar plunge was in full force! The Cheltenham fire fighters raised over 15,000 dollars and were in competition with the new recruits who raised over 12k!!
In total $105,000 was raised for the CCS exchange food bank with pledges still coming in!!

It was a busy day yesterday. First up, SVR Winters Series is almost over. I did not want to get up for the 5k but I’m so glad I did. Gave me the energy I need to go with Chuck so he could trade in his beloved Chevy Silverado. It takes all day to buy a vehicle! The new truck is smaller and not fancy but perfect for him. We were to do the Coldest Night of the Year walk with our church buddies but didn’t get home in time. So thankful for my neighbor who came over to check on the dogs and let them out. Good day! #svruns #chevysilverado #cnoy

With a goal of $95,000 #newmarket, came together to raise over $168,000 to help support innfromthecoldnewmarket at this year Coldest Night of the Year Walk. Thank you to everyone to helped and participated at this year’s #CNOY walk.
I am proud to have participated in today's cnoyorg event in #Miramichi. 77 walkers huddled together to enjoy a beautiful night of inspiring activism. It was a pleasure to play some songs and say a few encouraging words (independently, and not representing anyone other than the #MiramichiHousingSolutions board). Thanks to many of you, I was the top individual fundraiser for this year's local event, and I couldn't have done that without the incredible people who supported this initiative.
I thank you all for supporting a great initiative that is doing great things to support those impacted by housing insecurity. It was an honor to help a team with people I care about. There were many laughs, a few tears, and more than a few dollars raised.
My heart goes out to you!

This was my first time volunteering for #CNOY!
I had some anxiety going in, hoping I’d see familiar faces (I saw only a couple 🫂), but I ended up making some new connections with lovely, lovely people! (:
Before my dad passed away, he had lived on the streets. And any time he had a roof over his head, it was never just for him, he always shared it with others who needed it. He understood what it was like to be out there. It’s not easy.
I was thinking about how, not too long ago, someone tried to raise awareness by staying outside for 24 hours. But at the end of those 24 hours, he got to go home. Meanwhile, the people actually living on the streets stayed put. And you can bet, media coverage was all over it.
I get what he was trying to do, but today, it just feels… incredibly tasteless. Because homelessness isn’t an experiment. It’s not a challenge or a temporary discomfort for people to "try on" for a day. It’s constant. It’s exhaustion, hunger, fear, and being treated like you’re invisible, or worse, like a problem to be removed! It’s losing people you love, fighting to stay warm, and never truly getting to rest.
And yet, when housed people "test it out," they get praised for their ‘bravery,’ while those who actually live it every day are ignored, criminalized, or blamed for their own suffering.
If we want to help, we need to listen, advocate, and push for real change.. not perform suffering for attention. These are people's LIVES we are talking about.
Thank you Windsor Downtown Mission - DTM yall took care of my dad as much as he would allow. And if not for the mission having been around, I would honestly believe, I would have lost my dad far sooner than I did.
Thank you to all those who came out, raised money and donated, and walked and everything else that makes this possible!! It was amazing seeing our community pull together like this. 👏🏼 👏🏼

With Full Hearts, We Celebrate Together!
We are thrilled to announce that we have reached 100% of our fundraising goal for Coldest Night of the Year, raising an incredible $200,000 to help change the tune of homelessness in Fredericksburg.
This milestone was only possible because of the unwavering support of 851 walkers, dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, and everyone who donated and spread the word. Each step taken and every dollar raised brings us closer to a future where no neighbor has to sleep outside, and every individual has the support they need to thrive.
From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for walking with us, believing in our mission, and showing what’s possible when a community comes together with compassion and purpose.
✨ Stay tuned! This week, we’ll be sharing highlights from the event, including inspiring stories from participants, heartfelt thank-yous to our sponsors, and LOTS of photos for you to enjoy and share!
📅 Save the date: February 28, 2026—we’ll be back to walk together again. Until then, let’s continue working toward a future where everyone has a place to call home.

A message from Alyson:
‘Two months ago, I came across the CNOY fundraiser online. I started to sign up as an individual and noticed the option to sign up as part of a team; fortunately, I was already a part of the best team- Bridgewater Yoga. When I pitched the idea to our teachers, I was met with a big YES.
Since then, I’ve been overwhelmed but not surprised by the generosity of the Bridgewater Community, including students, teachers and friends of the studio. The goal of $1000 was a big one and we surpassed it and raised $1320 for projectshare_nf !
Thank you to everyone for being a YES; a yes to walk, a yes to donate, a yes to recognize our community in Niagara is in a crisis and a yes to do something about it.
While the issues of homelessness, food insecurity and poverty are beyond our small studio, I’m really proud we chose to see these issues and raise money, when we could have just continued doing yoga on our mats.
What our studio community did was the true meaning of yoga and we will continue to 💙
A friendly reminder that Project Share accepts and is in need of donations year-round!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! ❄️

Today was one for the books! 🎉 We joined the Hamilton community for The #ColdestNightoftheYear (#CNOY) — a wonderful family-friendly fundraising walk supporting Helping Hands Street Mission hhsm_hamilton. ❄️💙
We kicked things off at 4 PM at Cathy Wever Elementary School with games 🎲 and a kind welcome 🤗. Then, we strolled by the HabitatHamilton tent 🏠 — bringing back memories and gratitude for when Magda, our brother, and I were lucky enough to receive a Habitat home that changed our family's trajectory during hard times 🙏❤️.
We helped out in a small way by picking up some bags 👜 at Helping Hands’ old home, symbolically moving them to their shiny new space ✨.
Our journey then took us to 541barton for some delicious food 🍲 and warmth (physical and social... 541 y'all are simply the best 😍).
Then a quick stop at Barton Library hamiltonlibrary for water 💧, book giveaways 📚, pencils ✏️, and fun little surprises 🎁.
The grand finale? Hot chocolate ☕ and heartfelt chats 💬 at Helping Hands’ new home at Barton and Sherman. Sorry again for the hot chocolate spill 😫—welp, for both of them!
To borrow from HHSM, this event was a reminder of the social, financial, and spiritual struggles our community faces, but also a celebration and an inspiration 💫, as we all pull together to share relationships, resources, and hope 🌟.
Thank you to Lisette for the invite 🙏, Alice for the warm welcome and care 🤍, and Laura—even though we didn’t get to meet, we heard wonderful things about you! 🫠 And to the fantastic volunteers who braved the cold and kept us from getting lost. 🥰
Big thanks to Adrian, Magda, and Atticus for joining the walk 🚶♂️🚶♀️, and to Wilf, Judy, Patricia, Kathryn, Adrian, and Magda for your support 👏♥️🙏.
Our group raised $335, and the total raised for this event was $67,560. Donations are still being accepted: hhsmhamilton.com/donate/.
Here’s to walking together, sharing hope, and making a difference one step at a time 👟🙌✨

My district team 💚☕️ and my daughter 🥰 joined forces with me for a fundraising walk, uniting with around two hundred fellow community members to make an incredible statement of support for young people in need of a safe and stable home. 🫶🏻
Proud to be part of the movement to help youth experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness. ❤️🩹 Because you can tell a lot about a community by observing its local businesses, public spaces, community events, volunteerism rates, diversity, and the overall sense of connection and engagement among its residents. 💞 This annual Coldest Night of the Year event is a powerful testament to our community’s boundless generosity and support, sending a resounding message to youth that their lives matter. 🩵🤍💙

The Coldest Night of the Year is more than just a chill in the air, it’s a reminder of the strength that comes from togetherness. Tonight, communities across Canada are stepping out into the biting cold, united in purpose and heart, to raise awareness for homelessness and support those in need. Tens of thousands of us are walking together, each step a symbol of compassion, empathy, and the power of community.
As we brave the elements, we’re not only raising funds, but also shining a light on an important cause that affects too many people every day. It’s a chance for us to show that no one should have to face this kind of cold alone. Through these walks, we’re contributing to real change, one step at a time, and making sure our neighbors, friends, and strangers alike have the support they deserve.
Together, we are making a difference. Let’s continue to walk with purpose, warmth, and hope.💙

Congratulations to the 200+ walkers tonight on The Coldest Night of the Year! Together we raised over 120,000 to help house people in the Downtown East Side. Thanks to firstuniteddtes for fighting for dignity and justice 🕊️
Sometimes when I’m feeling 😡, I remember that all real change happens in your own neighbourhoods. And if everyone is supporting locally and helping where they can in a little way, it adds up to good vibes that counteract bad vibes. There are so many good people. Today helped me remember that.

RE/MAX Cares: Supporting the Coldest Night of the Year ❄️
We’re proud to sponsor the Coldest Night of the Year in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association in Grande Prairie. This incredible event raises awareness and funds for mental health programs, helping those in our community who need it most.
Mental health matters, and no one should have to face the cold—inside or out—alone. Let’s walk together, raise funds, and make a difference.
Join us in supporting this cause and spreading warmth where it’s needed most! ❤️

Coldest Night of the Year 2025! Congratulations islandcrisiscaresociety on such a successful event. The rain today was a good reminder of just how privileged we are to have a roof over our heads. The ability to stay warm and dry when so many others can’t. There’s still time to donate to support islandcrisiscaresociety and they are SO close to their goal. They are current at 87%. Your donation will support all the amazing programming they do to care for and empower those in Nanaimo who need it most.
