The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly fundraising walk in support of local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness... because it’s cold out there. Join us on February 28, 2026 - across the country, close to home!
Green Wood Coalition uses a community model of caring to walk alongside people living with poverty, mental and physical illness, substance dependency, and disability. As a radically inclusive, street-level organization, we meet people where they are building trust through relationship, shared presence, and dignity-centred support.
Our work includes relational approaches to recovery such as the Redpath Addiction Recovery Program, healing through art and music programs, and holistic initiatives like our new Whole & Well program, which supports overall wellbeing through connection, yoga and care.
We believe healing happens in community. Whether through creative expression, recovery-focused pathways, or simply gathering in a welcoming space with warmth and nourishment, we create places where people feel seen, valued, and included. As our community grows and diversifies, we continue to listen, shift, and respond—evolving our programs to meet emerging needs.
Committed to neighbour-to-neighbour community building, we focus on what’s strong, not what’s wrong. Together, we work toward positive change that leaves no one behind, grounded in the belief that hope is found collectively and that a healthy, vibrant community includes everyone.
Starting of Coldest Night of the Year - Port Hope will once again take place at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Please join us in the main auditorium for kick off!
